What is your mission?

The mission of the Boys & Girls Clubs of San Antonio is to inspire youth, especially those who need us most, to achieve their full potential in a safe, positive and engaging environment that promotes education, health and character development.

 

What does the Boys & Girls Clubs offer to kids?

In a nutshell, the Boys & Girls Clubs of San Antonio (BGCSA) is a safe place for kids that is supervised by paid professional staff who offer fun and engaging programs for kids every day at an affordable price. The Clubs offer a wide variety of programs to meet theneeds of various ages and interests - leadership and volunteering clubs, homework help, computers, games, sports, swimming, photography, arts and crafts, college prep, delinquency prevention, and more.  Boys & Girls Clubs offer something for every young person.

How old do the kids have to be?

BGCSA serves young people between the ages of 6-18 years old. Some of our branches serve kids in age ranges, such as the Calderon Branch which serves ages 6-12 years old and the Teen Center serves youth ages 13-18.

 

Are there volunteer opportunities available?

Yes! We have many volunteer positions to meet your schedule, interests and desired location.  Please see Volunteer Opportunities to review the types of positions available.

 

Are you a not-for-profit? Are donations tax-deductible?

The Boys & Girls Clubs of San Antonio is a 501 (c) (3) not for profit organization. We have been enhancing the educational, social, and moral development of youth in San Antonio since 1938. Donations are tax deductible to the extent allowed by law.

 

How can I sign up my child? Is there a Boys & Girls Club near me?

Visit out Club locator page to find the club near you. You will need to complete a membership application. You can get an application by visiting the Club. Membership is $50 for one year.

 

Why is membership only $50 per year?

We keep our membership fees low so all children have the opportunity to belong to a Boys & Girls Clubs. As a not-for-profit agency, we are are able to serve youth through the support of the community.  Contributions are encouraged to further support the Boys & Girls Clubs so we can employ trained professionals and offer a wide array of programs.

 

Does the Boys & Girls Clubs have a summer program?

Yes! During the summer, our branches offer full-day summer programs. The cost of these programs is included in the annual membership fee. These programs begin at 7am and end at 6pm, Monday through Friday.

 

How is the Boys & Girls Clubs different from other youth organizations?

The Boys & Girls Clubs of San Antonio is focused solely on serving the youth who need us most.  Our Clubs are dedicated facilities designed specifically for young people. As a result, our members find a unique send of belonging at the Club. The Clubs are open every day after school and are supervised by trained youth development professionals and not just volunteers.  The Clubs offer a wide variety of programs that enhance education, build character, cultivate creativity, encourage fitness and teamwork and teach important life skills.

 

Do you accept donations of gently-used items?

We accept donations of items that are in good condition and can definitely be used by our Clubs. To donate an item, please call 210.436.0686 to make arrangements.
