Thank you for your interest in volunteering with Boys & Girls Clubs of San Antonio! Volunteers make a tremendous difference in the lives of youth at our seven area Branches and 41 onsite locations.  Volunteers are vital to the success of our programs and special events.

Volunteer Opportunities:

Administrative Support Volunteers: Volunteers help keep our behind-the-scenes operations running smoothly. Support includes filing, data entry, word processing, and/or assisting with telephone calls.
Year round, Monday through Friday, 8am to 5pm.


Branch Beautification Volunteers: Our branches are always in need of beautification and we welcome any effort to continue creating a place for our Club members to grow and prosper. Responsibilities vary and may include landscaping, painting, and/or deep cleaning.
Year round, dates/times vary depending on location.


Branch Holiday Party Volunteers: Throughout the year individual branches/onsite locations organize monthly celebrations for Club members including birthday parties, fall festivals, Thanksgiving dinners, holiday parties, and more. Volunteers work with branch staff to ensure members are having fun in a safe and supportive environment.

Group Projects: We have several group volunteer opportunities available that are perfect for companies, organizations and schools that would like to assist at one of our Clubs. Whatever your goals may be, our staff can help design and execute a customized project to align your group’s interests with the needs of our Clubs.

Mobile Pantry Volunteers: The San Antonio Food Bank drops off pallets of fresh food products biweekly for our Club members and their families. Volunteers assist by packing bags, handing out product, assisting with traffic control and helping to clean up the area once the food has been distributed.

Power Hour Volunteers: Power Hour offers a structured time and place for Boys & Girls Clubs staff and volunteers to help members with an important aspect of the educational process – homework. Volunteers serve as role models, providing guidance not only with homework assignments, but also with organizational and critical thinking skills.
August to May, Monday through Friday, times vary depending on location.


Programming Volunteers: Boys & Girls Clubs offers a wide variety of programs for Club members, including arts & crafts, athletics, physical fitness, computer/technology, photography, culinary arts and more. Volunteers bring their own expertise to the Clubs to help staff enhance programming.

Special Events Volunteers: Boys & Girls Clubs hosts special events throughout the year to raise funds to support our programs. Our annual events, such as our Leadership for Education Wine Tasting and Annual Gala, require volunteer assistance to ensure their success. This is a perfect option for individuals who are seeking a one-time opportunity.

STEM Volunteers: STEM programming focuses on improving Club members’ access and understanding of education and career opportunities in STEM related fields – Science, Technology, Engineering and Math. Volunteers provide additional support to staff and members during daily activities involving robotics, coding, architecture, computer programming and more.

‘Teen Fourth Friday’ Volunteers: Our Teen Center hosts open house events for members every fourth Friday of the month featuring a variety of activities, refreshments and fun. Volunteers are needed to support staff throughout the branch to ensure the afternoon runs smoothly and provides a positive experience for members and visitors.

Young Achievers Mentors: Young Achievers is a College Immersion Program for high potential 8th graders that aims to educate, inspire and empower its students to actively engage in their future. Mentors meet with members for one hour a week for 10 weeks during the spring semester to help foster students’ intellectual development.

Internship Opportunities:


The Boys & Girls Clubs of San Antonio works collaboratively with colleges and universities to offer undergraduate and graduate-level internships to highly motivated and committed students who wish to build upon their education with hands-on work experience. Though uncompensated, interning with our organization allows students to gain real world experience within the non-profit industry.

Internships are approximately 15-30 hours a week for the following departments:

  • Development/Marketing/Special Events

  • Programming
