Young Achievers

Young Achievers

Young Achievers is an award-winning college preparatory program offered by Boys & Girls Clubs of San Antonio.

Through weekly workshops, college visits, and a dedicated mentor program, Young Achievers aims for its participants to enter high school with a complete understanding of the college admissions and financial aid process.

Participating Schools

Participating schools in the program include:

• Rhodes Middle School (SAISD)
• Metzger Middle School (Judson ISD)
• Terrell Wells Middle School (HISD)
• Shepard Middle School (South San ISD)

A Nationally Recognized Program

Young Achievers is the recipient of Boys & Girls Clubs of America's 2018 Honor Award for Programming Excellence in Education and Career Development.

Each spring students have an opportunity to match with a mentor. The experience aims to promote their personal and intellectual development. More specifically, mentors dedicate time to helping students improve their writing skills by addressing the college essay.

We are currently recruiting mentors for Spring 2019.

  • Program Start/End Date: Feb. 4-May 3

  • Commitment: Weekly One-Hour Meetings

In Their Own Words

"I found the Young Achievers program to be immensely valuable, not just to the talented young adults I worked with, but to my own personal learning growth as well.  It was extraordinarily refreshing to work with such bright young minds on a regular basis, and help them more clearly articulate their goals and dreams.  I am proud and grateful to have played a role in their young lives, and strongly believe that the value the program provides to everyone involved is limitless."
